I just got a 55 gal tank for christmas (yay!) and I have the perfect place to put it. Unfortunately, there is a small 3 foot long electric baseboard heater right in the middle of that spot. Now the stand will easily fit around it, but i was concerned that this might heat up the tank too much. It is a heater that can be turned off and will be soon after the renting company gets our independently controlled units working. In the short term, how detrimental would it be to have the tank over this, it probably won't be stocked for a few weeks anyway.

you can set it up and see what happens. hard to say how much it will affect the tank.
my concern would be more about keeping a 55 gallon tank that close to a base board heater(electric?)

What kind of stand will it go on? An open style wouldn't heat up as much as an enclosed one but I'd be worried about the people being cold if it's blocked (my kitchen doesn't have a "real" heat source & it gets a little chilly)

Is the vent blowing into the stand? Can you open the stand? Just put a fan there. It will move the hot air away without a problem. I doubt your house is going to get too warm in the winter time.

Dont think there is a vent to it from what I have read... Is an electric baseboard heater so heat rises stright up from it...doesnt blow out.
