tank set-up

Hey bishop, boy I feel dumb...I was measuring my tank wrong.It's 36 x 12 x 17, which makes it about a 35 gal tank...sorry!!!!

No apologies needed, we are learning.

See any fish you like? A 35 is a very reasonable size.

hello bishop...during the course of the night and while I was @ work,my ammonia level fell below 1.5mg/l. I added half the amount I did initialy but it's still bel ow 1.5, should i put in more to get a 3.0 reading, or just enough to reach 1.5????

Nitrites increasing or visible yet?

ok....1st...I paniced!!! I thought my bacteria was in danger so i but in enough to bring ammonia level back to 3.0. As for my nitrite level......it tests in colors...and right now my color is darker than the danger level which is between 3.3 and 33mg/L

You are doing fine. Keep dosing ammonia to hold the level; Nitrites will be off the chart for a while. After one or two days, start your nitrate testing. Eventually you will see nitrites all but go away as the info I posted you states.

It is a frustrating and anxious time right now. Let nature take its course.

Help divert your attention to what you may think you want for a stocking plan. Post them here. You will get lots of input. Maybe even start another thread with your ideas to keep things seperate, but be sure to let them know where you are at in the cycle and all details about your equipment.

Thank u bishop. But I started my cycling on aug 26th.....should I be seeing a drop in ammonia so soon???

What is your temp at?

85 degrees...

That may be giving it a push. Just keep holding levels. Some cycles go faster than others.
