This is just a rough diagram of what I would like to build. i would like to have a 55g main tank with a 20g refugium, both set on one custom stand. i like the design of having the refugium above the tank so that gravity will cause the water to return to the main tank. I was thinking the 55g would be a reef, and the 20g could make a refugium with a longspine urchin and a couple of Urchin Clingfish. Just a thought, any input?

Just make sure your main tank can hold any water that will drain out of the refugium should the power go out.

I would place the overflow tube close to the top and make it larger diameter than the tube feeding the smaller tank. This would make sure the water coming out is always a larger volume than the water coming in.

I have a similar setup with a plastic tank that was easily drilled, but is gravity feed from my prop tank and then to my 90g sump.

That is a cool idea. Just try to hide the lines and it will be the stuff.

Just make sure to post pics of the build.:D

Here it is in a smaller scale. This is my 30g with a 6g acrylic fuge. I built the stand for the 30g, but haven't had a chance to build one for the fuge. I was thinking that this would be much more beneficial if the 2 tanks were larger.

I have everything flowing and sealed well, but the plumbing is still a little sloppy.
