I am thinking of getting a new tank (aren't we all). What is the minimum size for keeping oscars?

Oscars

IMO absolute smallest tank for one oscar is 55. A 65 would be better.

For a pair to grow to be happy and healthy.
A minimum of 90 gallons is a must.

For long-term care, a 75g is the smallest tank I would use for an Oscar. The width of the tank (18") gives even an adult plenty of room to turn around in, which makes the fish less nervous.

I agree with Harry, the 12" tanks don't work well for an adult O even if the water volume is high enough. I feel that 75 is minimum for one, 90 for two but if you want two I'd definately reccomend going bigger than 90 if you can.

Wow! I didn't realize they got so big! Maybe when I get my "dream tank" someday  !

yeah, Oscars suprise a lot of people, years ago, I used 55's to raise oscars, and always ended up selling my fish because the tank would get crowded, and I didn't want them to suffer. Most oscars top out around 12 inches, but I have seen a couple that go 14" long, and these are a massive fish as well that have messy eating habits. They are still my favorites though.

Hopefully you can get a pair.. Tank size must be huge..... My opinion is a 125 gallon would be nice (as I look over my shoulder at the Discus tank..). :)
