Tank sterilization

I just got a 6 gal tank form my Boss (He is the best) :D he upgraded to a 10 gal.
Plus the tank had sick fish in it.
How do I go about sterilizing it.
The tank also has some dried up stains.. ????

And after you guys help me sterilize it.
I will use this as a shrimp only tank. What sort or gravel should I get.
Maybe sand.. I will plant it of course.

Any help, comments and suggestion are most appreciated. :bowing:

As Dave said, Bleach is your friend. Also, the stains, are they hard water stains? If so, a little white vinegar and elbow grease will get rid of them. I have really hard water and all of my equipment and glass tops get some hard water stains, so I actually use vinegar as part of my routine maintenance every two weeks or so. It does a great job, just be sure to rub off all of the vinegar. It's a slight acid, and if too much got into a small tank like your 6 gallon, it could alter pH slightly.

Thax for the info guys... now i have more questions.. i put them in a another thread..
