Tank top frame seepage, anyone have it?

WHOA! My tank does that, but I wouldn't exactly label it as a problem... Its very very little seepage, so it doesn't bother me.

Hope your experiment goes well

haha... with the diy canister in the pic... awesome. that there just displays (again) you're the man for the job.

looking good gunner... keep up the good work. it's gonna be a sad day when you run out of projects around here.

I found out that whoever installed the trim just put enough silicone on the inside in dabs to make it stick with nothing on the outside under the trim. So if a vent forms (a path between the inside and outside under the trim). This path acts like a tiny siphon so you don't even have to have the water high as long as the water is touching the vent it can siphon water up and over the rim under the trim. I used enough silicone to completely seal both side and squeezed out all air bubbles trapped leaving no voids or vents.

There is no danger doing this with the tank full as the trim has nothing to do with the structure of the tank. Toxicity on the other hand in an enclosed room was a consideration. I found that having an open window with a fan worked great elimination any smell of vapors and I even slept in that room last night and this morning the fish and I were fine. I found out you really don't need to use clamps as long as you use enough silicone under the wide outside section of the trim which creates enough surface tension (like a suction cup) the trim will stay in place on its own until dry. Below a photo of the two end pieces being siliconed in place. Trimming off squeezed out excess is easier after a few hours (8) before the silicone fully cures (24) as it cuts off much easier in whole pieces but not sticky or messy.

Yup the Rio 2100 (pump) DIY canister filter is still working strong and is due for a cleaning bad.

Well finally tested the tank filled almost to the brim and where it once leaked in various spots along the trim to the floor, it leaks no more at all Yeehaww!:clap:And all done in the comfort of my own room without draining the tank. Now if I can figure out how to replace a panel without draining the tank I could make a pretty penny LOL.
