In January I decided to set up an aquarium again. It had been about 20 years, so I scoured this site and others for ideas and tips.

I'm happy to say my 70 gallon tank has been going very, very well. The information gathered here made all the difference. It's been almost too easy.

The tank is mostly a mix of Rainbows.

I thought you might enjoy a few pics my daughter and I took today.

Thanks again for all the great information on this site.

Nice Rainbows!!! I will be setting up my 55 soon. Can i ask what are your stocking numbers? How are you filtering?, i notice two spraybars and powerheads. I like the roseline shark, how is he by himself?

My dream tank....

I'm looking around for a 75 gallon tank to have rainbows as well. I'm going to use your tank as an example once I get it...its beautiful!

Here is the stocking:
(4) Boesemani Rainbow (Melanotaenia
Boesemani)
(3) Blue Rainbow, Lake Kutubu
(Melanotaenia Lacustris)
(4) Neon Rainbow (Melanotaenia Praecox)
(2) Tami River, Millenium Rainbow
(Glossolepis Pseudoincisus)
(2) Goyder River Banded Rainbow
(Melanotaenia trifasciata)
(2) Running Creek Banded Rainbow
(Melanotaenia trifasciata)
(2) Roseline Shark, Denison Barb (Puntius
denisonii)
(2) German Ram (Papilochromis ramirezi)
(1) Reticulate Hillstream Loach (Sewellia
lineolata)
(1) Long Finned Bristlenose Pleco
(Ancistrus Sp.)

Only a few of the Rainbows are full size. I may reduce the numbers as they grow. We'll see how it goes.

The filters are two Rena XP3's, plus two Penguin 660R Power Heads, and there are two Rena Smartheater's. Lot's of filtering and lots of water movement. I change 50% every week.

There are two Roseline Sharks, and they are great together. They constantly cruise the tank, and are very nicely marked. The variety of Rainbows provides a nice array of colors, and they are always moving around the tank as well.

Looks fantastic! Enjoy!

Very Nice~!
