Tanked Returns

While it may seem like an April Fools joke, the show really is coming back April 14.
I have mixed feelings about the show. I don't like the way it's edited, as that does play a part in what makes them look so negligent. It would make sense from an educational (though not very entertaining) standpoint to explain how they cycle tanks and how much time elapses in between the scenes that appear on the show. They make it seem as if you can just set up a new tank and plop fish in, though in interviews, they insist that they do properly cycle, and it's just edited to look overnight. However, there are also certain things I've seen them do that are just flat out wrong, in the way they handle livestock, and in their stocking levels/compatibility, and for that, there's no one to blame but them. On top of that, the stars are very annoying, and everything that's meant to look as if it's spontaneous looks painfully staged.
Regardless of how I feel about the show or it's stars, I can't help but watch it. Some of the actual tanks they build are rather inspiring for those of us that like to think outside the glass "box". Now if we could just get them to build the tanks, and leave the fish for their customers to deal with after the show... lol

They don't exactly explain how to set up tanks and that mans wife is pretty annoying with her accent

I don't have t.v. anymore, and despite that I am still upset about the skateboard tank (among others, first that comes to mind was that "man cave tank" horrible dimensions for the fish in my opinion, the phone booth as well was extremely overstocked), I probably will watch it online when I'm bored. After all, although there are some awful fake coral inserts, highly overstocked tanks, it is remotely interesting, I get to oggle at fish.

That show helped motivate me to get back into the hobby but I am trying to do it the right way. And I didn't like the editing or the skateboard tank either.

there was an interesting article in one of the more recent TFH magazine issues where one of the guys addresses some of the issues brought on by hobbyists. I'll probably watch it and see what they have changed about the show. But it's geared more towards the average population, and not fishheads like us. If it were geared more towards intermediate to expert fish hobbyists, they probably wouldn't have as much of an audience.

4 more days! Just to brainstorm, what kinds of tanks would you (as seasoned aquarists) like to see on the show. I'd love to see if they could set up a huge ultimate amazon river biotope.
