I'd say so - I don't have any experience myself. But I've never heard of them as being unfit for a community tank in any way. In any case, try this site out. It's got a good bit of info and can help you with choosing some new tank mates.

I'd stick to the 1 inch/gallon guideline - but it IS a guideline and subject to conditions. 20 more rasboras and you'll probably need to increase filtration and how often you do water changes.

I came across some rainbow fish today which has some nice colors, friendly community fish... and they stay relatively small 4 inches? Any special characteristics you're looking for?

I do water changes once a week. I have never considered rainbows. Don't really know much about them. Thanks for the suggestion.
