TANKMATES for convicts

Having no luck with breeding them yet, their fins are getting really long now, no wonder they call them feather fins!!! im trying many things to try to get them to breed, tempreture changes, water changes, ph changes, decor changes. nothing seems to be working. i will still have to wait until i get my bigger tank though, if i am to have any luck.

Feather fins? Not a name for convicts...

Anyway, do you have any females? They have a bright orange patch on their underside... you can't miss it.

Convicts would breed in a bucket, so I don't think thats the issue.

i like convicts but not interested in breeding them right now. they breed so prolific and fast little suckers to try to catch. i had a slate full of eggs put it in a five gallon(i know a little small) but anyways to of the young paired up and bred i thing they were standard length 1". but know i have a 2" single male with 3 2" firemouths and a paradise gourami. the gourami was supposed to be a starter fish for the tank (i love gouramies i have three bettas and 2 tri pumlis(dwarf croakers). but iam keeping the paradise in there he holds his own and reacts ciclid like in agression.

mysis, I don't know much about breeding trigers for synodontis and am glad that you are one of the very, very ,very, few who has a good shot at being sucessful :read: . I would like to give a few guesses for variables to try to hopefully trigger some signs of possible willingness to breed for the syno.
substrate type (sand, gravel, mud),substate shallowness, tank mates, wood, lace rock, water salowness, salinity. what size tank is it? how many breeders to be are in the tank? on a guess, how many females and males do you think there are? what are there sizes? what are you using for caves? what tankmates are they with?

Hey, you other people should have read my post, convicts would breed out of water, and faster than flies, and i wasn't talking about breeding them things. i was talking about syndontis eupterus, the syndontis will soon be moved into a 7ft by 2 ft by 2 ft, i forget how many gallons, and cant be bother working it out, anyways there will be 5 in there, at the moment they are 10 cm +. no other tank mates in there, i am making in heavily planted with lots of caves. From research i have found they like dark substrate, and is from their natural habitat, so i will use black pebbels (pea size), i am guessing that i will use low level lighting as this is also in their habitat. i will post some pics of the big guy (who i think is male and some of the smaller females???) for the caves i will use granite rock, limestone and fake caves. at the moment i am guessing 3 females 2 males, the males are more aggresive to each other. feeding will be done with high quality pellets, brine shrimp, a bit of veggies aswell. basically i will take it from there.
