Tanks in odd sizes

Anybody ever wonder why tanks come in such odd sizes?

I was always wondering why tanks just don''t go up be 5g incriments. I see 10gs, 20gs, but then i see ones like 29g, 46g, 72g. What is up with that.

Have you ever thought why use feet, gallons, and pounds instead of meters, liters and grams?

Sounds like preference,i prefer to use cms and meters to feet and inches,litres to gallon,centimeters,meters and litres are more complicated including the 111.16 litres for example

The volumes are odd but the outside dimensions aren't. They build tanks to be fairly standard lengths/widths/heights rather than standard volumes.

I believe keely hit it dead on. Standard dimensions so that items like UG and lights fit easily and can be used on different size tanks.

Don't think so we have our own standard,usually use british measurements like centimeters,meters and litres
