My 33G is almost finished, which is great. I'm now deciding what to do to keep a filter ready for my hospital tank. I don't want to hang it off of my main tank just to be a little extra cautious. Right now my default option is to pick up a spare 5 (maybe 10 in case I need to quarantine several fish), heater, and stick an extra filter on the 10G (with fish) I've used as a quarantine to keep it full of bacteria. This is a perfectly acceptable solution, and fairly cheap. However, if I'm going to drop $30-40 to have a simple hospital ready, it seems like I may be able to spend a little more money and break the 10G down for a hospital, using a slightly larger tank to keep the filter cycled.
Due to me reading '250 pound shelf capacity' as meaning a shelf can hold 250 pounds, rather than 80 pounds, and not wanting to spend the money (or time) to get a new stand, I'm looking at using the sturdy table that I've been using as my stand. The difficulty is that the table measures roughly 21.5" inches on a side, which really limits the tanks that can go on there. Even a standard 20G tank is going to hang over an inch on either side. An inexpensive piece of wood is probably an acceptable solution to support those stray inches, but I'd rather stick to a tank that will fit on the table itself.
As far as I'm aware I have a few options. I can use a 15 tall, a 20 extra tall, a 20 hex, or a 30 cube. Short of going the custom route, this leaves me with the question:
What (semi-)standard tanks exist that would fit on a square table measuring 21.5" to a side?
