Tap water vs Os water

How big of a different would a Ro water vs tap water made in a SW tank?

I live in San Francisco and my LFS said Tap water is actually fine in our area? no need for Rowater.... perhap someone in the neighborhood can help?

I would go to a home depot or lows and pick up a water test kit. It will tell you how good your water actually is.

never trust the lfs.. theyre there to sell you fish, and thats it. find out for yourself, thats the most reliable way.

Definitely do NOT trust LFS...test your tap water at your house, or take a sample somewhere and have it tested. I was told to use Phoenix tap water by many people, including some LFS, and when I tested it I found out it was NASTY (no big surprise there). I get my water at a water store around the corner, 19 cents a gallon, and mix the salt - much easier on my mind and tank.

best thing is to call the city and get a water report or test ur tap water and see how it tests out. if its fine then ur good to go...if not RO is b=always better.
