Tap Water?

I got my ro/di unit today...nice unit with only 1 problem. It has a leak in one fitting. I am going to fix that tomorrow by going to a hardware store and picking up a new fitting. Hopefully that will take care of it.

Im doing 1095 gph in my 55 gallon and have a TERRIBLE cyano problem.
Could be the lack of a skimmer for a long time- I've only had it a week (bakpak2r)
I have a 15 hr. photoperiod but I only use 2x15 watt fluorescents.

I got the ro/di hooked up and running with no problems. I am in the process of filling up some jugs and hope to do a water change tomorrow. As of now the hair algae is almost gone and the cyano seems to come and go. I am not sure what the cause of my cyano problem is, but hopefully the ro/di unit will help with it.

high nutrients and light are the two things that most algae like, the RO water should help lower nutrient levels in your tank. I hope everything works out for ya.
