i'd like to know what they are lined with,..lol

I was at Wal-Mart earlier today and saw clear sterilite tubs for $8 that were larger than a 20 gallon tank. I was tempted to buy one for soaking a large piece of driftwood, but I have an empty 29 that will work well enough.

I'm one of those idoits that bought one of those deals LOL. I bought my first tank in Dec. off craigslist. It was a used 20 gallon, and I paid $80 for it. I got a bunch of sick fish in return that were covered in columnaris. Yay!

Thankfully with everyones great advise here, those fish are now healthy and beautiful! I have only lost 5 out of those original 16 fish. One died during child birth, one died from what I believe was just old age, and 3 neons died last week when I lost all of my neons.

It's fine to have a 5 or 6 inch plec in a 10 gallon briefly. Just keep a really close eye on water quality.

I agree. especially if you "spoil him" with lots of veggies and other foods. Just make sure the tank is cycled and maybe even do water changes as often as necessary to keep water quality up.
