hi guys,
my temp of a 72 gal is set at 82 ,
i have had the 400 watt heater set at 78, but we have central heating in my apt so th etemp satys at 82.

will this affect my cycle and how about my fish

please help
 
i have 8 Zebra d, 4 platies (sp?) and 4 tetars...
i want to add some mollies, tiger B, and greman rams....

should i try to lower the temp some how...????
ooh i added Bio spria when i added th e fish...
 
next Question would be HOW....
if i add water it will just go up again right....

I've found it better to set the heater by the tank's thermometer, not the indexed setting on the heater. They are not very acurate, in my opinion, unless the heater is of the highest high-end type. Try gradually turning down the heater over a period of a couple days.
 
Ys, exactly what fishboy said, set the heater by the thermometer. The devices they use in those heaters are cheap and not always accurate. The temperature should be 78 degrees for a community tank. The only fish I know of that like 82 degrees are discus. Bring the temperature down slowly. Its worse to lower the temperature quickly than to raise it quickly. Lowering the temp too fast may cause an outbreak of ick.
