Yes, that is exactly what you want and having two of them insures that if one of them should fail down the road then you will still have the other one heating the tank somewhat for safe measure.

Running 2 each 100 watt units in both my 55's; gott them right under the filter intake (2 filters in each tank

Temp is stable, and the same all over the tank.

Other than the red Adjustment knob (what were they thinking?). hidden out of sight....
