Hey everyone. I have a male German Blue Ram in my 20g. tank and i know they like warmer water, like 80+, but i've got Platies, Red Eyed Tetras, African Dwarf Frogs and 2 teeny tiny Gouramis (Red Honey Gourami?? Thats what the store called them, theres a link to what they look like at the bottom) in there with him as well. So, my question(s) is how much higher can I turn up the temperature? Its at 78 right now. I once read somewhere that the ADF's like lower temperatures so thats why i'm wondering how much higher it can go. My GBR is not very colorful and you can only see the blue sheen on his scales when the light hits him the right way, so i thought maybe if i turned up the temperature he'd brighten up. Other then that hes pretty much always just a dull light grey color and sometimes shows the stress bars. Also, my other question is, will the brightness of the lights affect him and his coloring as well?? The lights are pretty bright, not sure what the WPG is but its considerably brighter then my 50g which has a 25w fluorescent bulb in it. Thanks for any answers!

OH YEAH! This is a completely different topic, but, I've got baby platies and I've used the Wardley Small Fry Liquid food and I also got some Hikari Micro Pellets because I couldn't get the Hikari First Bites or whatever they're called so i got these instead. Are those okay to use too? They micro-pellets are super small (hence the name :duh: ), small enough for the platies to eat (maybe not right now, but in a week or so they should be big enough). So yeah, good to use?

I have my community tank with rams at 79-80ish right now and I have danios, corys, and a swordtail in there as well. I guess there really is no "magic" temperature as long as it is "tropical"...all tropical fish will do just fine in the 70-80 range :)

you could probably go up to 80 if you wanted to, but 78 should be fine too.

you may want to try to go up to 80 and keep an eye on the frogs and see how they react.. unfortunately it's not an exact science.. trial and error is the bestway to figure this stuff out.

My tank stays at 78.5 - 79 degrees with my GBR's ,tetras and cories and they all seem to be doing fine.
