I have some baby cherry shrimps given to me but their home is not ready. What kind of temporary home can I put them in? These babies are about a 1/4 inch long.

If you have any sort of established tank, start w/ a container, water from said tank & a sponge filter. Seed the sponge finter by rubbing it down w/ existing filter pad/media/whatever... add air pump & the moss they shipped with. Provide with some light and do frequent PWCs.

I'm no expert, but that should keep 'em happy for a while.

Will one of those hang-on breeder gadgets work?

Sorry, you were right, my first post was referring to a separate tank/bucket or something similar. My second post was just from my brainstorming. See I didn't even think about them climbing over the top if I used one of those mesh things. LOL, I forgot they got legs :)

Will I be needing a heater for this temporary setup?

A hang on breeder tank I have has a lid... I guess to keep the mom and fry from jumping out. I got it at petco. forget the brand. maybe Lees.

After I posted the above, I went to Petsmart and found the exact same thing you were describing. It's perfect, this will give me time to get the other tank ready and planted before I move the cherries.
