Ok, so I set up a ten gallon tank for shrimp, and snails for the boys...( and guppy fry when it does happen) I used the water from another tank, I also took the filter out and put it in the new ten gallon...
my questions are.....
1. will the snails that are coming on wednesday be a good enough bio load to keep this tank up and running well until the shrimp arrive?
2. and will these two things be a good enough bio load or will I need to add fish? I was hoping on a few otto's to go in here to but have to find some first..

thanks

the snails should have a much higher bioload than the shrimp, so that should be fine. I would only add otos if you have enough algae as they are not always the easiest to supplement diet.

I got a bunch of snails coming in a few days, how about if I took the gravel out of one tank and added it to the tank to? I will be sure to test often and to do water changes as needed.

I'd leave the filter on the previous tank until it's actually needed. The new setup won't be producing any ammonia to keep the bacteria going until Wednesday (provided they arrive when expected). I wouldn't leave them w/out ammonia more than 24 hours.

:iagree:

I wouldnt move anything from the other tank over until you add either the shrimp or snails ...as the good bacteria will start dying off without a source of ammonia.
