Found this on a blog site. It's disgusting. Unfortunately we can't name the store who did this, but look around, and if you see this, make a stink about it.

The person who took this picture found it in a large chain store in Pennsylvania.

That's pretty freaking disgusting! I have seen some bad displays at large chain stores before (ie dead fish sucked on to the filter intakes etc..) but I think this one might take the cake. I feel lucky I have never caught anything quite that bad before.

That shelving looks awfully familiar...pretty sure I know what store that is. I must say at least the one here has changed the way they keep their betta's they do not keep them in the little cups anymore and only have a few in at a time. Instead of the bowl they are each in their own little what looks like 1/2g tanks. The most I seen in at a time is 6, so they are moving in the right direction at least. They also no longer have Oscars, any of the sharks, or pacus.

i was thinking the same thing... and i live in Pa,

I bet it begins with pet....

all bets are cancelled, i repeat... all bets are cancelled. RNeiswander screwed it up for all of us.

I have to say, that is probably one of the worst examples of betta abuse I have seen, and I, too, am from PA. I am relieved to report that my local big box store either puts bettas in with other fish or ( and I have seen this) changes the water in the (larger) cups at least once every three days. Not optimal, but not neglect as is shown in the picture, either.

I do not understand why no one could say which store it was. It is not slander or defamation with the evidence to prove it.

I have a Petco, a PetSmart, and a Walmart near me that sells Betta fish, there's a PetSupplies plus but they only have a few fish tanks and don't sell bettas. The containers (and shelves) looks awfully like Walmart's. The containers in my Petsmart has color coded covers with the type of (I'd assume that chains stores have the same live suppliers) and I don't think that a PET store would let something like that stand. My best guess? Walmart.
