terrible thing happended at my fish store.....

2 weekends ago, i went to my regular store, and picked up a new trio of platies, and a trio of swordtails. within a few nights, one of the swordtails died, so i went to get a new one since my water tested fine. when i went up there he told me that he was sorry, and he thinks that someone poisoned his tanks(just a few live bearer ones and tetras mainly) and that in a week i could get another one. i asked if my others should die too, and he told me no, if they were going to they already would have, but they have all died since then except for one of the female platies. do you think i should get an exchange, or should i have to pay for new ones??? just wondering what everyone else thinks.

you should get an exchange. That is all part of being a responsible store owner, if they knew something like that happened they should eat the loss.

I think I would fight for an exchange too. I can't say that I would hold them at fault since it was malicious actions not done by them, however, they are responsible for maintaining their tanks and should be testing things frequently. My guess is they would have found some bad tests but wouldnt have taken any action until their fish started to die. There is a line between business and enthusiast.... the business is going to want to sell their fish no mater what... the enthusiast is going to want their fish to be healthy.

So I wouldnt yell that they were neglegent that something like that happened, but I think I would ask them to take responsibility.

with any other fish store i have been to, i would completely agree!! but this place really cares about their customers, or at least our bussiness. i also asked him what came up when he did tests, and he said that everything read out fine, but they have the man on video doing the act, so they know something had to of happended. although, this is only what the manager told me, so you could be right about that...
