test kit

just wandering what the best test kit would be. right now i just use the"Quick Dip" strips, i know thats not enough. i want actual numbers which that cannot provide. As far as the chemicals, i am using NovAqua water conditioner and AmQuel plus for nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia. is there anything else i need?

You can throw away those stripes. They do not give you the actual number. Liquid test kits are much better.

You want to only use a de chlor, like Prime or NovAqua. Do not use AmQuel plus anymore because you want to keep nitrates and get rid of nitrites with bacteria and water changes (if cycling) alone.

Good lord, I paid $25 for that at the local store. I am doing all shopping at bigal's for now on.
