I just bought the hagen testing solution for ammonia (my LFS sells the testing solutions without the kit so people that already bought one kit can just buy the solutions, so I'm curious how it works I added 4 drops to the water like I would if testing for Ph. However the water didn't change colour at all, should I be adding more drops or more water? or both? and how do I tell the testing level? A little help please so my money doesn't go to waste.

For the Hagen Ammonia kit it says to add 6 drops of water. If it does not change the colour, ie stays clear then you have no, or very little ammonia. When it starts to turn orange then you could be in trouble.

If I had a scanner I would post the chart for you.

six drops of water is pretty vague, I also need to know how many drops of test solution. It also doesn't sound very informative because my hagen test kit has a line where you fill the test tube up to a certain point and then add a certain amount of test solution.

Sorry, I must not have been paying close attention, I meant six drops of the solution. Stupid Stupid me, must proof read... and fill the water up to the line in the beaker. Sorry for any confusion.
