Just trying to get an idea of what test kits people use on their reef tanks. I currently use API for PH/Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate, Salifert for Mag/Cal/Alk/Iodine, D&D Merck for Phosphate and a refractometer for SG.
Salifert seem to be having some sort of crisis at the minute as the last 3 Alk test kits I have bought, the test liquid in the kit has turned from the bright pink to a very faint orange colour within a matter of weeks leaving it very difficult to get an accurate reading. Even testing using the testing fluid (which should test at 6.5 dkh) is testing at 5.5 dkh so I have to account for that every time I test.
Is anyone else having similar problems or are other people using another brand and if so how accurate is it?
