so once my tank finishes cycling I am lthinking about stocking it like this:

8 bloodfin tetras
6 lemon tetras
6 brilliant rasboras

it's a 29 gallon tank with an aquaclear 50 HOB filter and an undergravel filter powered by 2 powerheads.

the other way I was tihnking of stocking it was like this:

8 bloodfin tetras
8 lemon tetras

The second one is definitely going to be less crowded, and will probably be the way I go, but I wanted to check and see what people thought about the first one.

Thanks!

I'd say go with the second...

You might also want to include either more of the bloodfin & lemons or perhaps 6 or so BlackSkirts!

For small schooling fish, I would suggest schools of at least 10 individuals.

I'd go with 10 of each tetras, especially because they are very small fish.

My school of 16 neons is so much more interesting than it was when there were less than 10.

good points. I had originally thought 8 of each since that gave me 16 2" fish (I know the 1"/gallon rule is bunk, but I was using it as a guideline), but do you think 20 of these (10 of each) wouldn't be too crowded for my 29 gallon tank?
