Read this article, it will help you as your tank cycles.

There are some more articles in this link that will be helpful also.

Did you acclimate your fish properly before putting them in the new tank? This could be one of he factors in the death, or almost death of the tetra. It could have also just been a weak fish, or possibly diseased. Keep a close eye on your others.

Hope this helps.

thanks so much, the people in the pet shop new i had just bought the tank and all. pity they never mentioned that! i have just noticed one of the other tetras is after developing about 10-15 little white dots, and another has one. the two guppies and frog are still fine. i presume this is a fungus, will it spread to the guppies and frog. i dont know what to do now i thought i was doing so well:( and that first guy died by the way
i only got the tank in the first place for frogs, i just thought the fish would be good company cuz i cant get more frogs for another few weeks. i changed about half the water today, i dont mind doing that every day if it helps, its only a little tank. i feel so awful now, all those little fishes are just gonna die because of me

Dunno about the frog with salt OR meds, however salt is less stressful on fish and tetras cannot be treated with some types of ich meds.

IMO use salt + heat.

ok il try that so, i did a bit of research and found that the frogs can tolerate 1 tablespoon per 5 gal of salt, i have a 15 gallon tank so im gonna put about 13 r 14 teaspoons of salt and hopefully they wont all die on me!! thanks for the help!!
