Tetras bullying my guppy, or fin rot? (Urgent!)

You said your nitrItes were "sky high"? So the tank is not cycled (or definately not normal for a cycled one)!? Or did you mean nitrAtes?

What was the nitrIte reading? Ammonia?

I'm sorry you lost your little guy. The stress from the water probably placed him in a vulerable position, which could have lead to and infection or just a weakened state, thus providing an 'oportunity' for the other fish to take advantage of...

Did you recently add any other fish to your tank?

Keep an eye on the other fish too for any changes.

BTW - Your Avatar is Awsome! ;)

Yeah nitrites were sky high. I think it was because I fed a lot, and the fish (Mostly the little guy, lol.) would just pull a flake from the top and just take a bite and go for the next one.

The tank is fully cycled, and has been for a few months. Nitrites were around 1.8 or something.. The test tube was dark purplish, for those with the testing kit..

And nope, didn't add any other fish to the tank, everything was the same.

I'll keep an eye out for the other fish.

Should I treat the tank with Coppersafe or Melafix just in case?

And I think the other fish were intimidated because of him, he was smallest of all the fish, but had a tail fin like a parachute. Haha. Maybe it was for the best.. the suffering is over now. RIP!

use melafix, it heals both fin nipping and fin rot. May need to get rid of some fish if they are too agressive.
