We're looking for one more type of fish to fill out our 75G planted tank. Right now we have cories, mollies/guppies, a dwarf gourami, and angelfish.

There are a couple solitary fish that I have thought about adding, but what I would like is a schooling fish with the standard tetra shape that gets bigger then things like neons... maybe 3-4 inches. Of course, it also would have to NOT be a fin nipper because of the angels and gouramis.

Any suggestions? To let you know the other fish I have thought about adding are a pair of bolivian rams, some clown loaches, or a platinum gourami. I ask because my wife LOVES the look of tinfoil barbs... but they're just too big :/

congo tetras

They're beautiful under the right light (silvering iridescent with several hues along the lateral line), grows to around 3 inches, and are peaceful. There is also a long finned version. If your wife likes tin-foil barbs, I think she'll love these as well.

Long-finned rosey barbs are also very pretty.

Does it have to be a tetra type?

Personally, if you are looking for a bigger looking species that is also a schooling fish then why not look into the Rainbowfish family, they are REALLY colourful.

Some of my personal favs. are: Bosemani, Turquoise, Dwarf Neon, Irian Red, Australians are alright too.

For a 75 gallon you could easily have one or two of the species I mentioned. (in a school of say... 6?).
