Tetratex EX1200 Leaking (Marineland C Series)

For the power of it and all that it seems superb. Only if my cabinet is open can you hear a very 'slight' hum. It is more or less silent. Ease of setup and the way it is all seperated into trays with lift out handles is fantastic. It woulld be 100% if it didn't have this problem. It is a major problem though, left it in the bucket over night, had aboout 5-10 litres in the bucket. This could be a really good way doing a water change, just empty the bucket out every 2 days...and add more...haha.

They phoned me this morning.

As the shop said, there is a fault with some batches (mostly older ones).

They have sent out another hose adapter via courier (should get here tomorrow).

They said there is a 90% chance this will fix it. If not, they'll sort it out if I ring them back.

Fingers crossed. Hope it works.

Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your email. I was sorry to hear that you had experienced this issue, these models are under investigation as we had a few reports of the same problem. Although this is still being investigated, we have discovered that there is a fault in the original Hose Adaptor Unit - part 1 in the manual, this causes the leak to be faorced out around the clips as you mentioned. I will have a revised Hose Adaptor Uint sent to you as soon as possible, please provide me with a post code and I will have this arrive as soon as possible. We have had a roughly 99% sucess rate with this solving the issue, however, if this is an isolated case and does not resolve the issue, please feel free to contact me and we move forward from there.
I will look forward to hearing from you regarding this.
Kind Regards,

That's what they sent me.

Got the part.

Still Leaks out the handle. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Will get back in touch.

I had the same problem, but it was a loose rubber gasket. They sent a new seal and motor and it has worked perfectly.

They are sending me a new filter.

Will have it by Thurday.

Can't say fairer than that. Great customer service indeed.

Just a bit dissapointed in the product. I mean, it is great at er...filtering. But obviously I'm a bit soured.

Good News Peeps!

The new filter arrived. It was an entirely new unit!!!

New cannister, new head, new media, new trays, new clips - everything.

Promply switched over my media from my leaking cycling filter and started up the new filter.

NOT ONE DROP YET!!!! Nearly been 24 hours (touch wood).

I am delighted with Tetra, a whole new filter with all parts and a spare hose adapter (which is 19 quid - roughly 4,000 US Dollars)...so I'm delighted. Obviously it is bad that it leaked in the first place, but they knew about the problem and sorted it with the minimum of fuss.

Oh crap...it just started leaking....JOKING of course. Jinxed it now, I expect a leak to start in an hour after this post.

Guess I am luck...12 of them here over two yrs and no issues. They do have great customer sevie.
