I just want to thank you for your advice the other day regarding my algae problem. :bowing:

I was able to get a bottle of "Kent Nitro" and a phosphate kit from the LFS and immediately came home and tested the tank. I had no nitrates in my tank and phosphate was .25 ppm. The DIY CO2 is at 20 ppm. I added the recommended dosage of NO3 for my tank size and I ended up with 10 ppm.

I can't believe how beautiful my plants look. The L. Repens wouldn't grow and had a lot of brush (fuzz) algae on its leaves. The poor thing was choking. I was ready to give up on her and suddenly when the NO3 was added, Boom, she started growing from the very first day. She's pearling like mad (she wouldn't do this before) and the new leaves are algae free. What a difference NO3 makes! All of my plants are pearling and they look even healthier than before. My Pennywort is thick with little leaves and she looks great. The algae is definitely subsiding, it's hardly noticeable (there's some on the glass). I'll definitely see if I can post a picture of my tank when I find my usb cable. You'll see for yourself that I'm not lying.

I'm so happy with the way my tank looks. The fish are very healthy and enjoying their little paradise. :D

I guess I don't need the SAE's anymore. Thanks again. ;)

I'm glad your getting on the right track. It's a good feeling when you finally start getting the better of algae. I've had a terrible time with staghorn algae and am now well on top of it. I'm not sure if removing your SAE would be a good move though because you might just discover how much it works 'behind the scenes'.

Thanks reiverix. We're all in this together. I value everyone's advice, which is why I pay attention to everything that is being said. :D

I never had the SAE's to begin with. I wanted them badly, but my LFS doesn't have them yet. Now that the algae seems to be subsiding, I feel that I no longer need to look for SAE's.

I want to post a picture of my tank. This camera is hell to understand with all the menus and different functions. It's not the greatest picture, but I hope that you can see it clearly. Here it is (I hope).

Lissette :)

P.S.: Now I need foreground plants to cover the ugly substrate, oh well.
