Thanksgiving roadtrip surprise!

Thanks for the responses so far. I really like the scenic flight idea! I'm going to start looking into that to see if it's feasible. And I'm stoked to see what comes from PuppyFluffer's efforts!
I thought I'd put a little more info out there to work with... :idea:. She's very crafty (in the "arts &" sense...), she's into photography, painting, drawing, etc, she's intellectual and thoughtful and funny. Random and kind of silly things are always a plus here.

Sante Fe is FULL of Native American history, and beautiful, historic sites to see. it is also a mecca for local artists. You say she likes to paint, etc? How about setting her up with a special place, an easel and paints for her to paint one of the beautiful scenes for you both to remember your trip forever? (or sketch/photograph...etc.)
Taos is a nice little road trip up the road from Santa Fe too. Huge arts community. There is so much art in the area, you'd never get to all the little shops and galleries.
I will call my friend tonight if I don't hear from her via email today. She can tell you the good local restaurants and such. I always like the local flavor and not the touristy areas.
