'Massive' goldfish weighing 9 pounds found in South Carolina lake
The giant goldfish was found in a park in Greenville County, South Carolina as wildlife authorities conducted a fish population survey, a park official said.

Lol NBC/wildlife officials... ? cause it is not a goldfish but a butterfly koi..
Real goldfish can get big though, like 16"

(but thanks for sharing, it is a good idea to share news stories with fish in it)

Cool looking goldie. Scary thing is, I'd imagine there's countless others as big or bigger in local waterways, especially in the more accommodating climates.

I'm not sure it's a koi as our resident expert suggests (don't see barbels), but it could be!

You don't need to be an expert, look at its mouth again and you'll see the barbels. But next to that, having a temperate fish in a (sub)tropical climate does not mean it will exceed their maximum size. They grow faster, and more of them might reach their maximum size, but they don't grow to "monstrous" sizes. Goldfish can get big, but something like 15-16".
