The act totally crept up on me. yesterday i had two weeks, where did it all go.....
well, has anybody here taken the ACT? Do you have any tips? ideas? warnings? anything? lol

Fill in every blank. One of my friends thought it was like the SATs (where wrong answers count against you and no answer doesn't) and he left everything he didn't know blank. He didn't do so hot. Also, don't stress it. If you aren't happy with your first score, take it again. Not happy with that one? Take it again! Most people go up 1-3 points each time they take it. I took it once, was more than happy with my score, and never looked back.

thanks
the major thing that im worried with is how slow i can be when taking testing. i am usually the one that doesn't have enough time lol. did you have enough time?

Don't fall asleep. I did and I had to reread the paragraphs that you have to answer questions about.
Also make sure you know your math...functions specifically.

I don't think I had any problems with time, but I'm that guy in your classes that finishes and walks out while you're on the first half. Are you a senior right now or a junior? What math, science, & english classes have you had?

lol. thanks. i don't think ill have a problem of staying awake tho lol
crap. math is my weakest subject. what are functions? ive only taken pre-al, al, geo, and im on advanced al right now...what level is funtions on?

Im a jr.
i have had physical science, biology, and im on forensics this year
i have had american history, world history, im on american government right now
i have taken pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and im on advanced algebra right now
my english classes were just called english I, creative writing, english two, and "english: exploration and process"

I had taken Algreba, Geometry, Algebra II, and FST (Functions, Statistics, & Trigonometry) when I took the ACTs and I was in pre-calculus. I had only taken one semester of "real" English (but I'm an avid reader). I shouldn't have asked about science classes, really. IME, nothing can prepare you for the pure chaos that is the science section of the ACTs. It's just stupid. I ended up doing fine in it, but it seemed insane at the time.

You're probably fine with English already. You'll do *much* better on the math section if you retake the tests (I suggest this unless you score 32+ this year) next year after having some more advanced math. Your history is fine.

Somewhat off-topic: Any idea what career you want to go into?

yeah, i was kinda worried about math....wait you had taken all of those math classes when you where a jr??? i can't barely keep up with my math lol
my area requires you to take a test called the MAP, and its science section was really weird too, like stupid/random/confusing science
Im going to go into Veterinary Medicine
