Just read from an annotation on one of the pictures
"Note the parasitic copepod on Mr Blobby's mouth."
So that's what it is, I thought it was just drooling...

Yes, I think it is, strangely enough, real.

It might look quite different if a deep water exploration sub got a few photos in it's natural environment, deep below the surface of the ocean.

i think its sorta of shape- yuck yuck. seriously though, it may seem ugly, but it is not in its liquid environment, so yea it would sorta just blob together.
