The California Blackworm

Very interesting thread you started....and I really like the way you responded to BRADLGT21....

I ended up with something like these in an undergravel filtered tank and they thrived under the plates themselves, not only in the substrate. Don't know where they came from but would not mind having some in my new U/G set up. Where can I get some?

Ya this is a interesting post. That brad guy is one of those forum jerks that should just be banned for retarded comments. I always say, if you do not like something that someone has posted, hit the back button and don't read it.

I never considered cali blackworms in an ugf. I guess they could live there...huh! I buy mine from the LFS at about $1 for a huge "tablespoon" full of 'em.

Thanks you guys for supporting me in the face of some mean-spirited criticism! I actually feel bad that I got catty and made that crack about spelling quarantine. I use an iMac and Mac OS X includes an awesome spellchecker that will check even stuff you type into webpage text boxes like the one I'm typing into right now.

I mean, no, there's really no room for angry criticism like brad leveled at me but really, there should be no room for angry, catty comebacks either. I feel bad for him, tho', for being so easily provoked to anger by a girl with a dead dwarf gourami and a pile of sand! I hope he's feeling better.

Umm. Uh. I only spelled "brad" with a lowercase "b" because his username is all lowercase "bradlgt21" or something like that. I really meant to say that I felt bad for being snarky and making the crack about spelling quarantine incorrectly when I'd be making tons of similar mistakes if not for my built-in spellchecker.

I have a major angry-grrrl streak which I must wrestle with daily in order not to be a big jerk to everyone.:Angel:
 
Very interesting!! Thanks for the very informative thread!! I've been glued to the forum for days reading your threads. LOL It started with looking up blackworms to feed my future Scarlet Badis. Sadly my other ones died. I have to have those fish!! :D Now I'm switching substrants and buying worms. Hmmm... LOL I wonder if mystery snails (I was going to say Brigs, but I don't know how to spell it at the moment) mess with the worms? Anyone know?

Now to the other thread to post about the sand. I saved both in my favs for future reference.

Hmmm...you are making me seriously consider adding some blackworms to my 75 gallon since I have about 3 inches of eco-complete. I'm sure my GBRs would love to hunt, and my emperor tetras also like prowling along the bottom. This may be a stupid question, but is there any chance of them taking over? I would freak out if I saw them taking over my tank...I remember a member posting a picture of their 10 gallon just FILLED with worms although I'm pretty sure they had tubifex worms. It horrified me. As long as I keep from over-feeding and the fish eat some, should I be ok?

I would probably order from that website since I don't think any LFS around me sell live food. I should bring that free blackworm coupon around to make sure! And the parasite/disease free guarantee is a winning point.

I'm reading how to keep them and the website says to keep them in the refrigerator because they need to stay at 50 degrees. Is this because they are assuming you aren't feeding them so they want to slow down the worms' biological processes?
 
Hey StarStruck8, do you have a link to that worm overloaded tank? I would give my left buttcheek to have worms breed that well in my aquarium.
