The craiglist aquarium search.

I try to search craigslist on a daily basis, this is what I have aquired in the past 5 months. I have aquired 3 tanks off of craigslist in my area. A 55 gallon tank with very thick glass, needs to be resealed for $10.00. A 30 gallon long with stand and two 30 inch strip lights with working bulbs for $30.00. And the best deal so far a 37 gallon tank, with strip light , peguin 170 biowheel HOB, 2 goldfish and an entire box loaded with misc. stuff (powerheads, fish food, tubing, extra filter cartridges, nets, syphon, etc.... all for FREE and to boot I sold the goldfish for $10.00 and made some money off the deal.

I agree with all the other poster's, you have to check CL constantly, if your looking for good deals. It seems like the really good deals go quick. I have also seen tanks for free, but good luck, it seems like no mater how many of these you reply to you never hear back from them.

I check pets, free, fish, fish tank, and aquarium. The best deals I've found are a 125g tank with everything for 100$, and a 550g acrylic tank for 500$.

Couldn't get either.... :(

Keep trying...sooner or later, you will find a good deal...or even a freebie or two...

I did a search on E-Bay locally and found my 55 gallon with stand and heaters for $100.00.

Type tank, aquarium, etc., in the search bar as opposed to going to each catagory - it will automatically search them all. Sometimes they are where you wouldn't expect, like when someone is getting rid of furniture and just groups the tank in that listing. My brother-in-law got a great 75gallon w/everthing; it was in a list of items under yard sales. He just e-mailed and picked it up before anyone else had a chance to snatch it.

Also check closest big cities - way more traffic. I'm in MD, and WAY more listings within 40 min of me are on the Philly & Baltimore site than the MD eastern shore where I actually live.

Last, all pet supply stores have bulletin boards you can check or post a wanted flyer.

Good luck

some obviously clueless wacko was asking 75$ for a 125 gallon with stand, filter, rocks, lights, decor and water conditioners

Wacko? Easy there. These people are angels. Be thankful.

Additionally, sometimes people with these larger tanks are really just trying to get rid of them VERY quickly.

Note: I use the search by and type "fish" to search all "for sale". I'll even try "aquarium" but usually fish gets them all. Also try it in the community area under "Pets". I've seen some tanks and stuff there for sale/free.

There's so many good deals on craigslist in my area (Seattle to Portland) that I've found myself getting VERY choosy! Like, I just saw a 90g acrylic "like new" for sale for $150. But, it was 2.5hrs away and I didn't feel like driving the distance. LOL, there's soo many good deals if you look often (as said above). I'd be broke if I jumped on half the deals that I KNOW are awesome!

Also try "curb alert".

Umm..I've been checking since March..no such good deals or freebies yet.
