The ideal petstore/LFS....

I'm pretty dedicated to my boxers. You can't just pick up a well mannered one from a shelter..I've tried. Everyone else wants them too, and they are snapped up as soon as they are listed.
I have friends that have had good luck with boxer rescue (and dachsund rescue, too). What great dogs boxers are--I never would've guessed they're so sweet from seeing them at a distance.

The rescues are great, but they want you to live in their area so they can check on the dog..again a great idea, but I live outside of their area. A lot of the "breeds" have rescues, and it would be nice for a pet shop to list the ones that do cover their area.

I don't know that the point of listing breeders is to make $$ off the sale of the dog, but hopefully they will come back and buy dog supplies and books. THat would be where the $$ is.

Emily...I never thought of it like that, but I guess you would have people who have that attitude. It still owuld be nice to ahve it available for those who care enough to seek out info. Maybe people would see getting info "off the internet" as different from the acutal store itself?

I had a lady approach me once at a Petsmart and ask if I would be interested in being a foster home in Lab rescue after she watched Churchill (my BLM) walk around the store at heel a few times...I can't do it though...one dog in training is enough, plus I live in an apartment, PLUS she wasn't too okay with the idea of training dogs to bring back dead animals, and that's the only training I know how to do.
