The implants have started... It's a 'new world'...

Some of you are quite paranoid or voicing paranoid thoughts but some of the paranoia I agree with. A chip with your vitals, personal info, etc. is just ripe for exploitation both legal and illegal. Does anyone really think criminals won't find a way to exploit this and use it to their own means? Or with the "terrorists-are-everywhere" mentality of government under Bush, that you won't be tracked and watched suspiciously for "terrorist" activities or dissension?

As to the whole Biblical discussion, it's not hard to "prove" these revelations because they're so vague. Mark of the beast you must have to function in society? We have plenty of those already. Idenfication cards or social security cards (and similar in other countries) stand out as immediate examples. I don't take much credence in these dooms-day references.

I do figure it's only a matter of time before this is exploited to unethical and illegal means. All the claims of how it'll make life easier and safer may be true but ignoring its dangers is just wrong.

I agree.

Are you on a cam right now -- that you don't 'know about'?

:D

Actually when Social Security Numbers first came out a LOT of people started screaming that it was the mark of the beast.

This is just the next SSN. Implant as needed. RFID sucks at detection even from a couple feet. That's why they are implanting them directly under the skin. You have to hold it right up to the scanner to get it to work.

If they stuck it in your guts you could rub your belly and A** all over a scanner for a week and it still wouldn't pick up anything.

So you can't really track anyone with it implanted unless you place scanners on every car, door, and foot of dirt found on this planet.

This is just first gen though. Already there are experiments and plans to use much more powerful RFID's and throw in batteries to give them an even wider range. That and with the ever increasing ability to shrink technology down, it won't be long before portable scanners are out and can be used to read signals from a wider distance.

And how will this impact an honest citizen? True the possiblities for misuse are rampant. But this is a fact of life that we have to get used to.

Creditors have a score for how good my credit is. I've never met those people, never talked to them, or gave them permission to have that information about me.

The government can find out where I was born, everywhere I have traveled to outside of the US, every employer that I have ever worked for, etc.

To people living a hundred years ago, we already are without any privacy.

In a couple hundred years I'm willing to bet that science can detect you anywhere on the planet at all times just by "sniffing" for your DNA. That will really end the debate about having an implant. Your own cells will give you away.

The only logical choice is to simply agree that no matter what your opinion is, that it is not going to reverse the direction that everything is heading. We need to formulate checks and balances and minimize the possibility of anyone using it in a detrimental way.

Like it or not, your privacy is not going to increase in human civilization no matter what you do.

I'm quite aware of the present situation on privacy but that doesn't mean I'm just going to lay back and accept blindly anything that comes along either. There are currently some barriers to just stealing or aquiring information, making it easier for legal purposes means making it easier for illegal ones as well.

Also, the government may know all those things, but they don't know where I am at any given time. This kind of technology will only give the government more power to abuse.

So we have to make sure they can't abuse it. Eventually no one will need to have anything done to them for constant surveillance.

Should we simply minimize the current and rapidly increasing amount of privacy invasion that is already occuring until nothing can be hid no matter what?

Then what happens? They abuse it as much as they want.

I would rather control how they can use that inevitable outcome than simply fight a losing battle. So let's start working out how humanity will agree that anyone can use that information and for what purposes. And then protect that. If done properly it could be a wonderful thing.

Gilligan will not stay on a deserted island for 17 years.

Children will not be abducted for 6 years (or even 5 minutes) before whatever happened to them is discoverd.

Serial killers will not exist.

Criminals will not run free to do as they wish.

Known terrorists will not evade capture and punishment for years.

But the government will know that I visit a liquour store 3 times a week. And that I visited a porn store 10 times in my 20s.

Big freaking whoop.

I don't worry about a thing....cause I know who's in charge...and He's got me right in the palm of His sovereign almighty hands ! :D

For sure, those days won't be fun, especially for Christians....but this life we live here is OH so short and so temporary......I'm lookin ahead to what comes after !

OOOOOPPSSS!!! Sorry....lol...did it again !!

"Thy will be done." No matter what happens. Requires nothing. And no outcome disputed.

Yeah, I'm in the same mindset. Whatever happens is just going to happen. And for the most part you can't change what will happen. All just chance and whimsey.

"God helps those that help themselves." So let's help ourselves. And hope that what happens is a good thing.

you missed my point watcher.......I don't worry about myself and what will happen to me...personally.........but I do ache for those who don't have that security. It's no fun for anyone to watch all the ugliness that's out there all around us.......and we all aught to do what we can to make some kind of impact for the better..........I certainly don't believe in sitting back and doing nothing, letting evil have it's day.........I just know that that personality has lost the day...he'll have his fun now while he can.....but in the end.....he's toast !!
