The importance of calcium, electrolytes, magnesium, and KH in your aquarium.

that is a good article....wondershells are a good product. Lots of info in there that will help me come up with new recipes!

yes, and i have ordered a few wondershells to try with my inverts from usa as there not availible here in the uk.

good article, long, hard for a newbie. but good.

so you use baking soda to raise, then wonder shells to maintain? or just buy the buffer and it doesnt need maintained.

what do you do at WC thought? test and adjust all over again?

a good read.
I wonder if it is an ad for 'wonder shell'

;)

I would recommend more study on this from a different source.

some speices of fish consume their minerals in their diet. others need higher kH/gH.

but it is a good read.

some species of fish thrive in low kH/gH environments and derive their minerals thru consumption of edibles.

addition of some minerals may not be necessary .
an example may be Angels and Discus which traditionally are in acidic conditions with low kH /gH. where there are frequent water changes. in some cases RO/DI units used for source water and buffers added back.

I find that you should never rely on one source for information.
often times article like this are written up for the benefit of an advertiser or supplier.

good question.

I get the impression that the wonder shells are for a slow release . sustaining the kH/gH which may not be needed at all.

typically you can buffer water when needed or replenish buffers at water change time.
since we are doing weekly(sometime 2-3 weekly) changes.
