The Incredable Color Changing Brig Snail

If he(MJ)would happen to google himself.
This is bound to show up.

I can just see him walking into one of them new fangled tanning/spray-paint, booths. And comming out Gold. rof............

Hey, they might be pretty valuable. I have one blue that is turning green...but because of algae. I tried using a toothbrush but it is the hard kind that won't brush off. Does anyone have any other ideas how to clean it?

i have one too! was ivory when i bought it but as it grew, it turned golden. maybe cause i was actually feeding it unlike (insert name of big box store here) anyways, i think its neat.

This is strange. It looks like the shell was painted (last photo) as shown by the lack of overlapping growth ring when a snail in some cases tries to change its color. Someone in applesnail.net had a snail that grew golden shell growth too and discovered her snail was not an actual ivory color at all but the shell was painted white instead. She rubbed the shell with her fingernails and the paint went off. The store admitted later on it was painted.:headshake2:

Maybe I must be reading too much.:wall:

Yeah, I will have to go get some MTS. I saw some at the LFS that were polishing the brigs up. Maybe I can isolate it with a few of them until he is clean.

Here's the thread I mentioned.

I have one diffusa that keeps changing color from ivory to gold until it is now almost golfball size but nothing like the one Katelyn just posted. It has growth rings visible as it grew and changed colors.

weirdest thing, the only thing i can think of that would have affected the snails shell color is what i'm feeding it, they get all kinds of things i'm sure the pet store wasn't feeding them. It seems to be a healthy snail anyways, was all ivory when i got it, thats what caught my attention, cause i hadn't seen them in the LFS before that.. then poof few months go by and now its gold.
