the joy of varying foods

We feed our corydoras julli (2) Nutrafin Max Sinking Complete Food Tablets which they like. We've tried Wardleys brine shrimp pellets and Hikari Sinking Wafers - both of which they don't like. They will eat frozen brine shrimp but these are kind of messy and tend to end up in the filter even with the filter turned down low. We feed the two c julii once a day by breaking up one tablet into four or five pieces.

Our pet store betta which we just got a few days ago loves Hikari BioGold baby pellets. We have tried Hikari FD Bloodworms but he is not as fond of these and we have to break them up to make them small enough as most of them are too long. We feed this guy three times a day: 3-4 baby pellets or similar amount of broken up bloodworms. We are going to try him on Hikari FD brine shrimp shortly.

We have a red plakat who we are trying to wean off of live food onto the Hikari BioGold and Hikari FD products. This guy eats three times a day also and has been eating black worms and brine shrimp though in the past he was eating live bloodworms and daphnia at his breeders. Next summer we will feed him and the betta live bloodworms (mosquito larvae) from a bucket in the back yard.

are Bloodworms mosquito larvae or midge larvae?
someone told me they are midge...but in my bucket i use to breed live mosquito larvae there are also these weird red wormie thingies wiggling around at the bottom...they kinda look like bloodworm...the end of their tail divides in 2 just like the mosquito larvae...can i feed these to my fish...will it be good for them?

:dance2: Algae wafers, Freeze dried brine shrimp, color enhancing tropical flakes, cichlid pellets, shrimp pellets, and my hubby's fingers once in awhile (j/k)

Steak, eggs, bacon drippings, deep fried twinkies.....
:p:

Hikari does make some quality product. Wardley is decent too. I did notice that the Wardley algae wafers seems to cloud the water a little though.

Midge. Some people feed their fish earthworms, flies or whatever else they catch. Just depends on the fish.

My new favorite food for my bichirs is frozen krill. While they'll eat nearly anything (except freeze dried tubifex worms, apparently) they go CRAZY when I throw in some krill. I feed a number of different frozen and flake type foods, but the krill is so much fun to feed.

I also feed my bichirs (and a lot of my other fish) by hand - they will come right up and eat flake or frozen foods right out of my fingers. The bichirs will even jump out of the water for it (although I don't make them do that on purpose - sometimes I just don't get the food into the water fast enough for them)

Tetra Min flakes, bloodworms, tubifex worms, brine shrimp. The bloodworms don't sink so the middle and bottom feeders have to have some flakes or pellets at that time.
