The Myth of Fossil Fuel

Talk to me when it's about 20.

And I do mean the media. Just like the y2k, they spout gloom and doom with the global warming.

Anything to get grant money. That's all this is about.

im not upset about global warming... ya pollution is bad... Im no expert, but as of now i belive that global warming is about 90% natural... it was happining before we started puttin junk in the atmosphere and it would have happened anyway.. but it only takes about 5 degrees (you might want to run a google search to check that... its been a while since i heard the real number) change in the average climate temperature wich is about 50ish degrees now, for the icecaps to melt causeing the oceans to rise about 10 feet. this means nomore florida or any lowlying area (florida is about 3ft abouve sealevel in most places) o yea... the sea level IS riseing...

Exactly.

Look at the huge panic over Y2K from all the "experts". What a crock.

had we not had that panic, the problem WHICH DID EXIST would not have been fixed... yea the hype was overdone... but it did get buisinesses working (like enitech from "office space") to fix the problem, hence why nothing bad happend!

Well no sense arguing with people that spout the same thing over and over with little to no reason why. I understand why Happy gets exsaperated.

"Talk to me when it is 20 degrees". Man that is sad.

1 degree celcius or fahrenheit is a joke.

If our body temperature raises 1 degree C, we have a fever... just something to ponder..

.25 ppm of ammonia, though minute trace, can cause a lot of problems, and indicates a much more serious problem.

My point it, even though it seems minor, it also seems to indicate a problem... since when was ering (sp?, I know it's not right) on the side of caution stupid? Quite frankly, I think it's time people stop taking their Ford Excursions out on road trips and that SUVs lose their popularity status; 90% of those who buy them don't need them.

If the temperature of the planet went up 20 degrees (even Fahrenheit) and I would dare say the entire planet would be in BIG trouble. It would be too late to do much.

If the global temperature of the planet would rise by 20 degrees celsius, we'll all be dead! Just increases in 0.5 degrees in some areas has caused a great deal of disturbances (i.e. coral bleachings!!!).

It's not about whether or not we can stand a change in temperature (because we have coats, heaters, air conditioners, etc.), it's whether ecosystems can survive such a drastic change.

How many floracarbons/notious gases/etc.... do you think sailed up into the atmoshere the moment Mount St. Helens blew up ?? Or Monseurot (however that's spelled), Anat Krakatoa (which continually erupts to this day).....or...heck Pompeii for pete's sake !

A whole lot more than man has ever produced in his very short existance on this planet....all in one eruption ! And how many of those eruptions has this planet endured just in the last thousand years...just to toss a number out there ??

Global warming caused by cars and factories ?? I think NOT !

But, in order for such thoughts to occur to an individual, one has to be able to think for themselves...and wonder outside the box that the media/liberals/intelligencia/better than thous/ would have us be contained in.....all the easier to control the masses....

I heard a pretty cool quote today that just about says it all where the media elites/liberals/globalists are conerned......"Yeah, they care about us...just about as much as a farmer cares for his livestock"

And to control the price of oil, and scare people into believing we a soon to run out of oil. ;)

EMG, are you saying that the majority of the scientific community is wrong? I wonder who to believe, them or oil companies?

BTW, I am a republican and seem to care about this. Just because media/liberals/intelligencia/better than thous/ are the outspoken ones doesn't mean that others out there don't care. Finally, when does "better than thous" come in when people are genuinely concerned about the enviroment and want to preserve the natural beauty that surrounds us today? I can't imagine my kids growing up and having to go to canada to see a sugar maple.

I'm seriously not trying to be a jerk, but it's fluorocarbons :).

Puma, I'm all for being responsible with the gifts that we've been given in this country....meaning the natural resources we have...But I believe they are meant to be used. There are ways to get to them responsibly and it is the business of the government to keep the companies in line in that area...without being so hardfisted as to make it not worth thier wile to bother.

It is totally rediculose to me to completely close off the whole state of Alaska to drilling.....the parcel that is being brought up in discussions is less than 2% of the entire state...wayyyyy up in the northern most area...AND...it is proven by other pipelines present that they in no way impede the wildlife up there.....

There are bigger agendas involved than just keeping the environment clean...
