The nerites are coming, oh wait they are finally HERE!!!

They seem to be doing really really well this morning, no overnight casualties. I did have to craft a lid on the fly last night as there were some rabbit snails determined to jump ship.

The yellow ones or the kings?

...and this is probably nothing, but I'd keep an eye on the Green Tigers as well. I had a Nerite that has that exact same patterning which absolutely refused to stay underwater and ended up crawling all over my house.

I dont think a betta could munch a nerite. They are voracious algae eaters which can be challenging to supplement. i would only recommend them for a well-established tank that has some algae. Nerite snails do not have the visible face that the apple snails do which make them better suited for nippy tank mates.

Wow. Way to describe my tank to a TEE, Misj.

I need me some nerites to go along with my shiny new Brigs. :)

The Nerite I had quite literally refused to stay in the water, it starts crawling up and out of the aquarium each time I put it back in. I eventually had to move it into an enclosed paludarium because I ended up finding it in all sorts of places each day - under my bed, under the TV cabinet, in the bathroom... quite the little explorer.

As for the Kings, I've always heard that they were brackish and in some way amphibious, though there was never really much first-hand experience to either confirm or disprove that. That should change soon though, no? :)

They were collected from freshwater. We will see how they do. They were one species that suffered the most losses from shipping (DOA from transhipper). They do not seem to be creeping out much now. I do have the water line lowered to try and give them some space to explore. I have been unable to tear myself away from the tanks today! They are just so neat!

For comparison, I took a picture of the one I had.

Regarding the Kings, if it was the wholesaler who said "collected from freshwater", it might not be reliable, especially with snails these days..
Didn't Arkkais (sp?) also get these in a couple of months back? I wonder how his experience went.

Lovely snails nevertheless, I think we'll be doing business when... ever the economy picks back up!

:nilly: I need to hurry up and get paid! Definately need more nerites.
Those red spots and tri color horned are sweet!

Those are some awesome looking snails! I'm definitly going to have to save up some money for some of these!!:thm:

They were imported directly from indonesia. They were collected from a lake (i think that is what they said, language barriers are rough). arakkis still has some, he has them in freshwater and they are doing really well. He got them from the same source i did, which were also collected from fw.
