the new project (criegslist tank & stand)

Nice find for 30 bucks.

Nice find for 30 bucks.

ya i know, the criegslist gods have been good to me this week i also managed to snag a 40 gallon breeder reptile tank for 30 and an ehiem 2222 for 35. the eheim has some problems (one of the clips are broken) but the moter works so i should be able to fix it.

Keep going darker!!! I like my wood nice and dark!! What type of fish are you gonna put in it?

not even sure yet probably a semi gloss or gloss finish. have work to day so wont get to staining it till later tonight. i'm also planing on replacing the old hinge's and handel on this because thay where rusty. i'm thinking if i can find it i want really shiny bronze but need to see how this turns out first.

well i did two more coats of a darker stain still not compleiy dark but i think it looks good i also used a clear sating finish. also installed new hinges and handle on the door but not it doesn't close all the way (despite them being the exact same hinges) but i can live with that and it's not that noticeable.

i also build another CO2 reactor that i attached to the inside and planing on putting one of the those portable light fixtures in this along with a heavy duty surge projector.
i already put in the 2222 will be used for the inline CO2 and heater. to get an idea of spacing in this and i realized this will be a bit tight in there considering there might be 3 canister filters in there (2211, 2213 and 2222).

glad to finally be done this the stand though i think the 29 will not be used immediately instead i'll put my 20 metal rimed and 4 metal rimed on this together when i head back to college

Nice.

Nice job!
One question though, why so many filters? I noticed a lot of people doing this. Aren't each of those filters rated for about 100g each? I saw someone use two Fluval fx5 on a 55g tank and those are rated for 400g each. I'm just curious because I'm getting a 300g rated filter for my 250g tank and now I'm not sure if it's enough.

well i really like to over filter my tanks (considering there all planted that not a bad thing). its more the be safe then anything also alot of canister filter are over rated for how much thay can filter. when i had my 30 gallon i had a c-220 on it and felt it wasn't enough filtration (keep in mind this was a heavily planted tank).

also the 2211 will only be in there if i have two tank on there instead of one (i use it for 10 gallon tanks and smaller)
