OK, I noticed my blue dwarf gourami getting a little fat last week. But, not so bad you could really tell it.Then yesterday I noticed his scales pokeing out.....wonderful...my favorite fish has dropsy. Now what?
According to all the research ive been doing last night and today.......it is most likey too late for him, but i refuse to give up just yet.
i purchased an antibiotic for him this morning,It was the only one my LFS had. But, i am not sure it is what i need to help him.
I have moved him to a hospital tank and was able to give him one dose of meds.He mostly hangs out at the bottom of the tank, but does come up for air and he also will eat just a little.Im thinking...that as long as i can keep him eating..he may possibly make it... i can hope..right?
But, here are my questions..............
What are the recommended meds for dropsy and do i have enough time to order them online?
Do I need to purchase a special food for this?
What about the tank he was in?
Should i do water changes in it an treat the fish in there also?
Will the antibiotics affect my snails and african frogs if i do need to treat my primary tank?
The meds i have say to feed straight to the fish like you would food..but what id my gourami refuses...which he is..can i mix it with fish food...which i did for the first dose.
I have read t hat the cause of dropsy is poor tank conditions or poor diet......my tank tests fine and i also do proper up keep....so what other foods can i feed my fish besides dried bloodworms and flack food?
What can i do to prevent the rest of my fish from getting this desease?
ok, i think that is all the questions i have for now...lol,, i had a bout a billion before i sat down to type, but now...not so many.
