Took a break from working on the horse stable to give a checksie. Counted (16) wigglers hanging around. I did not bother counting the ones behind the pre-filter. Little guys showing some pudgieness...always a great sign.
Will be prepping zucchinii to toss in there later today.

congrats! i have now got 3 otos! i was wondering if you do anything special to get them to breed or did it just happen?? also any tips on caring for them? thanking you in advance

Topped off the tank just a bit ago. Activity is very high. Wigglers swimming all of the place. Best count I could manage was (14). Only have seen a few on the zucs for now. They are working over everything. Added some seaweed flakes as well.

Nothing special on the breeding (that I have been able to figure out at this time). I just let nature take its course.
The key for these little guys are the food source. Keep them in constant supply of fresh veggies like zucchini. A nice heavily planted tank is also a good thing.
Funny, I was going to ask the exact same thing. I have 8 otos in my 55G, the power was out for about 13 hours Sunday into Monday, and the temperature dropped about 10 degrees. Usually my otos are pretty hard to see, you have to really look to find them resting on plants. But, yesterday afternoon and into the evening they were very active up and down the glass.
My tank is heavily planted with crypts, vals and java fern. Wondering if the temperature drop has gotten them in the mood.
I can honestly say I've never seen the "happy dance". Maybe one day I'll try and set up a web cam.
Just checked today and mama is laying more eggs. I find this rather fascinating as this is the third week in a row she has. Granted the ones last week and this week are in very small amounts. I counted (12) this time. There are (6) on one Bacopa stem and I am getting ready to move that stem to another tank and see how they fair over there.
