O.K. so I have seven tanks going in my home which is fine with me. Four of these aquariums are on the large side, those being a 125 gallon, a 46 gallon, and a 25 gallon that are freshwater and a 60 gallon saltwater reef. For the salt tank, I use RO water so I do not need a python for that tank but for the other three tanks I usually use the old fashioned way which is with a gravel vac and a bucket to syphon the water out of the tanks and then refilling the tanks with buckets of water. Of course this is a lot of work and puts a strain on my back and my legs. I have been thinking about getting a python that hooks up to the sink for water changes in my freshwater tanks but my questions are do I share the same python with all of my freshwater tanks or do I need a different python for each tank? At the present time I have a gravel vac for each aquarium so nothing gets transferred if there is a problem with a tank that I do not know about right away. If I use the same python , how do I disinfect it so I can use it for the next tank?Or am I just making too much of this? Somehow I think if I use the same python for all of the large freshwater tanks that in the end it will lead to a problem if one tank or another should happen to have something I don't want transfered to the other tanks.

Any thoughts?Python or not? With this many tanks I am thinking it is almost a necessity. What do you think?

you could use a bucket of water with a mild bleach as a dip for the python..you can alos get the vac part one for each tank.

I use a mild bleach dip and rinse between water changes.

I use a bucket full of a limd lbeach solution to clean the python between tanks. The python is a god send. With out it there is no way i could keep up on my aquarium maintinance with the hours i work.

I have 2 -125, 5-90, 4-75, 4-55 set up, and oodles of small tanks. Have a python for upstairs and another for downstairs. I do not sterilize them between tanks, but do at least monthly with mild bleach solution.

If I ever suspect an issue with a tank, I would though. The QT tanks are done by bucket and seperate siphon hose.
