The Showdown

I too was goign to add cherry's to the ghost shrimp tank. I'm rethinking that. I've noticed my ghost shrimp are aggressive between themselves. I have leaf litter on the bottom of the tank, and some have "claimed" a leaf and when another comes by it gets defended. I have a 10 gallon tank, and I have 3 "groups", one group lives in the plants on the left, another group lives under the leaves in the middle, and another group hangs around the java moss clump on the right.

im pretty sure those were both female. i used to have a bunch of them. the females are large and colorless. the males are smaller and have colorful spots on the edge of their tails. next time you buy a few just take a look. it will become obvious once you look for it. they used to eat all my fry as well. i kept them in baby traps to keep extra food from fouling the water....then i noticed that their stomachs turned black whenever they ate fish and it was always black( and i had less fry).

When I purchased my Ghost Shrimp, I was able to sex them because every single female they had was berried :)

These inter-species relationships just never work out. :nono:

Ghosts are surprisingly tough for such delicate looking creatures. I had one that would chase the smaller fish away from food. One even chase a Cory away from a morsel by pinching it.

mine chased away some mean albino paradise fish. Its funny how they use their long antennas to keep the other fish at distance..

This post probably saved many CRS lives. So her death was not in vain. She'll be forever known as a Cherry Martyr.

The Suicide Shrimp? :headbang2:
