Not untill I get a longer usb cord, sorry. This was mostly just an operational test of the software.

What do I do, step by step? I want to set up one.

It's pretty straightforward, really.

Step One: Purchase Evocam (google it)

Step Two: Run Evocam's builtin webcam server

There is no step three.

I'm not sure if there is a windows version of Evocam, since I am a macintosh guy. Good luck on that one.

I'm just getting a black square. I guess you must be in bed. ;p

What sort of drain does this have on your upstream/processing computer? And how fast are you wasting bandwidth off your hosting server?

I have plans to set something similar up, but I'm investing my money in actually getting the tank up and stable first.

The cam application draws mebbe 10% off of my system resources.. but then again, I'm running it on a dual cpu 1.4 ghz G4 macintosh, so i've got cpu to burn..

as far as wasting bandwidth off of my hosting server.. I don't have one. All macs come with the Apache webserver configured to run "out of the box". This means the webpage you're seeing is being hosted at my house through my cable modem.

The webcam app has the unfortunate inability to meter bandwidth by itsself, so I had to tell it on the Unix side of things to keep it under 40ksec outbound no matter what, to allow enough upstream for other crap I might want to be doing.

Investing money? pshaw. A cheap usb webcam is easy to find on ebay. everything else I'm using is free (and mostly open-source, to boot!).

I'll have to run about 50 feet of USB or setup a small apache system in my room in the closet to get a fishycam up.

As for hosting there are two possibilities: I could setup the stream to upload to http://purplesmurf.com but I'm not really sure what that will do to my monthly usage. Or I can use the mini-apache, trouble is the "servers" we have lying around are less then adequate for video processing and I think my current upstream is limited to either 1.5-mbit or 3-mbit. This is trouble because I'm not really satisfied with the picture a second deal.

My cam(s) of choice are iConcepts Mini or Ezonics EZ-622

=/

Nice tank though, now that I can see it :)
